Supporting free speech and human rights through photojournalism and art.

Jason Rovig is a photographer and prosthetics specialist from the Pacific Northwest. He founded the organization Borders Crossed to support change through photojournalism, art, activism, and socially responsible business practices. Borders Crossed is partially supported by the art collective “Art For Impact”, which was co-founded by Jason and Colombian artist Andres Chaparro. Borders Crossed uses art for activism to elevate public consciousness on the issues of immigration, human rights, corruption, and the realities of daily life for those living under oppression. One of their current projects, “Voices of Venezuela”, was started with Nery Santaella, herself a Venezuelan refugee. “Voices of Venezuela” addresses the lack of free press in Venezuela by collecting and sharing firsthand narratives and interviews of Venezuelans who have been forced to migrate in search of a better future. The proceeds from these projects help support humanitarian aid for Venezuelan refugees. Jason also volunteers his services fitting landmine and bombing survivors with prosthetic limbs and writes freelance on the topic of international prosthetics.

Human Rights Activism
